Branch Mint Proof Morgan Dollars

    There are several examples of branch mint proofs, here is a thread that I started a while back and nobody except Duke looked at it. I was so sad. It describes some New Orleans proof gold coins and a Morgan from my friend Jack Lee's collection. The king of morgan collectors.

    Who, me? I just do a lot of research. I had already read about these coins, and when I saw the chance to explain the coins I jumped.

    It's funny - I noted the moment I posted that Owle - the original protagonist - had also posted since it was bumped. So, in fact, your question is quite valid because he's around to answer it. :)

    I remember the guy in Marlborough NH, "Colonial Coin" ran it by Anacs. No dice on his attempt, and he had other disappointments with coins he thought were better varieties. Dealers who spend too much time in their own shops start believing their own bs.
