Could someone help me out with this please. I believe it is a 50 cash coin but struggle after that to identify further. It weighs 67g and has a diameter of 56mm so large ! Many thanks. Brian.
The characters wu and shi spell out "50" on the lowest quadrant on the reverse. Chinese characters are read from right to left - opposite of Roman characters.
55 mm Obv.: Hsien Feng Chung Pao Rev.: Top: Tang - "Equal To" Bottom: Wu-Shih - "50" Right: Manchu Ciowan - Board of Revenue, Peking Left: Manchu Boo - coin Rarity: Ref.: Found this at http://www.sportstune.com/chinese/coins/hsienfeng/50ciowan.html Looks just the same as what I have, but expert confirmation would be comforting. Cheers Brian. Thanks Scottishmoney.
