So this afternoon I went to my second coin show. Hooray. At the first one I went to, I got a nice '27 St Gaudens, and was hoping that I could pick up a nice slabbed half or quarter eagle

I recognized one person from the previous show, and he had a MC 64 '27 quarter eagle, but I'm not wiling to pay more then $600 at most for it, and he wanted more for it than I was willing to pay.

Saw a MS61 PCGS nickle, seller wanted $230 for it. Again, a bit too much for me.
Someone had some other TPG AU55 peace dollar.. But I'm not willing to pay $95 for it. Plus it didn't look very nice in the holder

So, quite a bust. I wish there were more coin shows in my area! Or at least some people who sell slabbed coins.

Bummer. Anyone know where I can get some $1 us gold for a small bit above spot? :)

Possibly, but I don't fancy having to wait a week to transfer money into paypal.. :(

They take money straight from my checking account...and I don't bid on items unless I can pay for them immediately after the auction is over.

Frankly, I find less and less I'm willing to buy on eBay. I spend a whole lot of time scouring the auctions, but there just seems like a lot of junk out there anymore...not worth my time. Sometimes I get frustrated and buy "something" and am almost alway disappointed once it arrives.

    You're a better man than me...I'm a Coin-O-Holic...I admit it.

When I couldn't find anything worth buying, I would satiate my appetite with an occasional Unc roll of wheat cents from the 1940's...but even their prices are increasing beyond what I'm willing to pay. When I get desperate and buy a roll...I get a roll covered with carbon spots! :(

I wish we could turn the clock back 8-10 years...that was a fun time to buy coins!

You should make time for the baltimore shows. Plus there are lots of online dealers that might have what you are looking for and a price acceptable to you.

I have no way of getting there. I have no car :(

I transfer from a savings account, not a checking account sadly.

I'm with you, and I got to some of the larger shows as well. Honestly I find the sheer number of coins available on ebay to be great. Yes, a lot of them are pretty junky, but no show can compete with what you can find on ebay in a week.

There is nothing wrong with buying nothing at a show.

Also another thing smalled me while I was sleeping

Someone was selling a bag of old wind up pocket watches. A few of them worked. He wanted $40 for them (could have gotten it lower, it was listed as 50)..

I should have gotten one of them. I want a fob watch. Though.. they might not be reliable. And I'd rather have a silver one.

I also stopped my father from buying a few indian head cents for $1 each. They aren't worth that much... :(
