Magnentius Roman usurper c.350 AD with reverse of two victories holding a shield. What makes this a little unusual is that it is a flipover double strike with clear parts of the reverse showing on the obverse. What makes it very unusual is that the first strike of the coin was a brockage as shown by the fact that the understrike on the reverse is not portrait detail as expected on a flipover doublestrike but the same reverse design in incuse. Most clear is VO/V/MV in incuse but reversed just to the right of the raised (normal) strike of the inscribed shield. This coin has not yielded well to my best photo efforts but it is what it is. Unique? Possibly. Unusual? Very!

So you are the one who beat me? Nice set! Four shapes in one uncirculated set, too!

Not unique but the die used for this FE cent was clashed with the die from the $20 gold piece.

    Progression Of Eye Error

    Pretty Rare to show the progression of an error, but here it is A005 - 20121129_042749 (2).jpg A001 - 20121128_064125 (2).jpg A002 - 20121129_043456 (2).jpg A002 - 20121128_061143 (2).jpg A001 - 20121128_062519 (2).jpg

Probably this one. It's also one of my favorites, and has been my avatar for a long time (not changing anytime soon).

Can I be a pedant for a moment and object to the term "Most Unique"? Unique is an absolute term - it means there is just one of them, and as such using any qualifier such as "most", or "very" is grammatically incorrect. A coin is either unique, or it is not! A title such as "Most Rare or Unique Coin" would be fine.

I know the term "very unique" is used all the time on TV and in the press, but it makes me cringe every time. :nerd:

Nothing personal - just a vain attempt to improve English usage.:dead-horse:

As such, there are very few unique coins except error coins, a few of which have already been posted. In regular non-error coins I believe the 1952 half crown in the UK would qualify, but surprisingly I don't have one of those!

I've never seen a coin with die cracks as extensive as this:

I agree that "most unique" is not proper English. But, I would argue that all coins are unique. Each has its own unique flaws, unique metal flow lines, unique planchet, unique toning, etc. So, if you want to be pedantic, any coin posted is unique. :p

In this case, I specifically implied that the 'uniqueness' is with respect to the individual collector...

Each person, I would assume has one or two coins that they themselves feel are unique. In the entire world, my personal coins are not 'one of a kind', but some are so different from the rest, that they are unique to me...

I thought my English was pretty goodly... : devil:
