1957 d lincoln cent strong doubled date. DDO? advice greatly appreciated

    i don't see any shelf like edges. could this be a doubled die?

    Looks like classic mechanical doubling to me.

    had to take a shot. when i usually see it on newer coins the "stairs" are overly apparent. ty just the same

    Sorry but as Matt said it is strike doubling (aka mechanical doubling). Note the flat shelf on the numerals.
