We just sittin' round here on the Group W bench waitin' for the OP to return. Amusing ourselves in the meanwhile.
This is how all the ancient threads go nowadays, since those guys from the other forum came over with their nonsense. Now we know why they were banned.
Ummm yah, sadly my dudes from the CCF know that I have at least one more gear within me!!? => I used to be far worse (or better?) ... good times ... but ever since the lobotomy, everything seems a bit slower and seems, well ... ummmm ... wha? => but I'm actually glad that I got tossed-out ... because now I get to play with you guys in a far more comfy dojo ... "cheers, my new coin brothers" Ooops, I'd better go talk to my hot wife => that's one membership that I wanna keep!!!
Like Jerry, I am also glad I got banned and am here now. We got banned for different but related reasons. He is right though. He has at least two more gears he can put her into, but we don't want that. He's fine cruising ion the gear he's in. ?????
Mine has no real idea of the value of my coin collection. I try to keep a series of spreadsheets that tally my current totals and update it once a month when new items come in and things go out. In fact its time for another update when i get a break next. Anyway, she would kill me if she knew how much i was spending, i keep trying to tell her that its part of our 'savings' but she isnt buying it. Oh well maybe if i keep repeating it to her she will believe it. Oh and here we are!
t47: Your wife is gorgeous. It sounds to me like most of us have the same problem. We have spouses!!!! I guess more to the point, we have spouses who could care less about our numismatic interests and who think it is a waste of time and money. I know that's how my wife feels. I might also add that, in my case, I spend too much money on this hobby and because of that I hide it from her. Now the question becomes why do I hide it? Is it because I don't want to get into an argument about something she knows nothing about? Or is it because even I know I spend too much. Maybe both.
Not quite my wife yet, but we are moving in that direction. Just purchased the ring yesterday actually and will be proposing to her in June. I found a good one, and I plan on holding onto her too, as long as she doesnt come between me and my coins
My wife has an equally expensive hobby: glass art. It actually makes me happy when she drops a few Franklins on art supplies. She's never said anything to me about coins, but I don't break the bank - I'm actually very careful about money.
I understand. When my wife does spend some money, it eases my conscience when I buy coins. The problem? She almost never spends any money. She holds onto a penny so tight she makes Mr. Lincoln fart! Actually, that's been a good thing for our marriage. We celebrated our 45th wedding anniversary yesterday. We also do not have any financial issues. We probably have more than we will ever be able to spend. So there you go! I should have no conscience problems when I buy a coin, right? But I do.
