Hello Everyone, I found both of these 1995 DDO's last night in two different boxes of cents. First time I have found one. Anyone with knowledge of them care to give me an approximate value? I know they aren't the greatest looking coins in the world. I also know the scans kind of suck. I zoomed in on the "liberty" of each on and tried to clean it up as best as possible so you can see the doubling. It is very clear on the coin when you look at it with the loupe but my scanner sucks. Thanks!
Right year and right location. Wish you had better pics though. OR, you could ship them to me for a better lookie
Great find! I would say the value for them is around $10 each. Unfortunately, they were found and pulled from circulation by the roll, limiting their value unless they are in high-MS grades. Still, I'd take a 100,000% return any day.
Yeah I was hoping when I found one I would find a good MS example...But hey, I'll take what I can get Especially when I find 2 in a row. My boxes this week were good to me. Not great for wheats but I did get the 2 95 DDO's, a 98 WAM, a 00 WAM, a clipped planchet 66, and what I think is a 1995, hard to tell because the entire obverse was struck through grease or is a weak strike and there are almost no details on it. Pretty cool since the reverse is perfect. I will post that one later tonight to see what people think.
Wow, lucky you! Those are very rare finds regardless of condition. Hard to tell given the pictures, but I'd say closer to $25 each. The demand is fairly high for these.
Thanks BadThad! I was pretty surprised when I found one and bowled over when I found the second one. Sorry the pics suck. You would think a new scanner would be able to do better.
Scanners will always be fixed. If you wish to look more specifically at various areas, in the low end I would recommend a canon point and shoot, with image stabilization, and at least 8 mp image and macro focusing. I use a 560 myself and either photo directly or through a microscope lens for details of varieties. IMO. similar to this. http://www.amazon.com/Canon-PowerSh...r_1_37?s=photo&ie=UTF8&qid=1363996116&sr=1-37
I have a Cannon Powershot S51S with image stabilization but I've never been able to get good macro pictures. I tried taking pics of these 2 coins with it and they turned out worse than the scanner images. I was thinking of getting a USB microscope.
