I'm collecting for a gift for a grandchild. I found 3 interesting coins in the first box from the bank. Grandchild will use the pennies to buy gum. Should I keep these for later? The first is a 1986 lincoln with doubling of the rim east and west and distortion of features of the face. Reverse is normal. I placed it next to a 1983 for comparison of facial features. the next two are 2002 D and 2004 D with filled die strikes seen on both sides.

Bigger pictures would be needed, and less blurriness.

WOW! Dang is anybody seeing that 1986 penny? I dont know the error on it but it might be worth 10 bucks or so. Mabye even more! I dont know if that was a doubled die? Great piece, I hope the experts tell us what it is! Welcome to cointalk anyways! And have you thought about how your going to store your coins? Its going to need a 2x2 coin flip or SAFlip.

Cant really say anything on the 83 and 86, because the pictures need to be clearer, but if there is no wear marks on the 200X dates, I would say its a grease penny. They would grease the dies and if it builds up in a small cavity, it would hydralic and displace that cavity. I dont think there would be a premium on them because its quite common, but I would say its worth holding onto as a good specimen.

Sorry, small pictures fooled me. I thought it looked like a doubled die off center.
