Hi All, Just want some opinions on these listings. Do these look replated? http://www.ebay.com/itm/BRILLIANT-U...43?pt=Coins_US_Individual&hash=item519d122e83 http://www.ebay.com/itm/1943-S-STEE...78?pt=Coins_US_Individual&hash=item4170ef309a http://www.ebay.com/itm/1-SETS-1943...08?pt=Coins_US_Individual&hash=item1c310e8428 Thank you all John
John, If you are seriously interested in such coins but do not have access to them in-person, consider buying at least once certified example.
I have a LCS nearby but he has only a 1943 AU condition for $ 7.43. I like the look of the steel pennies but dont want a replated one so as I ask I can review the ebay listings and educate myself and hopefully get a better deal. I really appreciate all opinions in this matter.
I'm not an expert on these. I think the first one might be, the second one looks like it wasn't replated, and I couldn't tell on the third.
John, I know this won't help you when buying them with just pics, but if you do buy a raw example and the seller has a return policy, it may help You can look at the edge of the penny. The steel was plated before the blanks were punched, so an original should not be shiny on the edge. If it is, that is a sure sign it was re-plated
First one yes, second one maybe but if so a good job, third one has been cleaned and polished. and you LCS wants way too much for an AU.
