Hey gang, it's been quite a while since I've been on here but when the Navy calls I go to work. Only 1 week left till RETIREMENT!!!! I recently came across something rather interesting. I purchased this 1881 3cent nickel for $20. It seemed to be a nice die clash so I handed over the $20 and headed on my way. Upon further inspection (in the parking lot) it is a die clash OBV. and REV. I have not seen nor can I find any info or potential value on the coin in question. Any info or assistance would be greatly appreciated. I sent an E-mail to Gary Rosner also so hopefully thee will be some good news. Hopefully the pics are good enough, I've had to pack away most of my stuff.

Nice looking 3 cent as for the die clashes most of these little guys had die clashes being so small and the tonage used to mint them. It does not add to the value but your coin is in wonderful shape ...the III on the rev. are sharp . Nice coin for $20.00 you did good! Here is a picture of one of mine showing the clashes also. 1865 Nickel Three Cent.jpg BTW congrats on the retirement and Thanks for your service! Paddy

Thanks Paddy for the quick response. That makes perfect sense on the ease of die clash for these. And what a great example you have to show!!
