Had to laugh at this one. The guy thinks the coins are worth a ton. http://www.ebay.com/itm/ROLL-OF-188...89?pt=Coins_US_Individual&hash=item4171adbf11
especially since he mentions what he believes to be the value of the coins. then states "the auction will start well above the value". the toning kinda looks like it could be AT. who wants coins with glue on them or ones that have turned black and pitted. pass!!!!!
I would love to get inside the mind of these sellers! (Or slap 'em on the back of the head and ask, "what we're you thinking??)
I really like how he said the sisters went to the bank (in the 1960's) and got 25 1882 "Brand New" Morgans to fill up the holes. Good story!
Seriously, that could have happened if it was in the early '60s. When I lived in Calif where I grew up, we could go into the local Security Pacific Bank and a teller who knew us would give us Morgans all the time. They were plentiful. Of course, if I knew then what I know now I would have saved all the good ones.
Am glad someone posted I have a whole pail of these except mine have turned all black that probably is not good.
Wonder what happened to the brand new dollars from the bank? The ones you can see with the magnifier are well circulated.
I never found a single Morgan in the $100 bank bags I use to search back in the late 1950's... they were all Peace dollars. After the treasury release of Morgans in the early 60's, I assume it was possible to get them through the bank, but I never tried.
My parents use to get these morgan silver dollar for a couple of coupons back in the 60's most still have the paper sleeve where they came in saying here is your free morgan for the coupons you sent in. Does anybody know where you could send in a few box tops today and get a free morgan.
