I have a 1968 US quarter that has the tail side of a nickle stamped onto the head side of the quarter. The tail side of the quarter appears to have the stamp of a head side of a quarter.

Can someone explain how this may have occurred and what the ballpark value may be?

    Thank you,
    Brent

Howdy Brent - Welcome to the Forum !!

It is known as a squeeze job. Someone has taken 2 nickels, placed a quarter between them and either hit them with a hammer or squeezed them in a vise. It's a common method used to deceive collectors.

I agree that it is a squeeze job.
Better luck next time. However, you can try to get it certified, but they will keep your money and send you a note like GDJMSP wrote.
