The Singapore Mint will be launching Singapore's third series of circulating coins, featuring some of Singapore's icons
=> The Merlion on the SGD 1.00 coin, The Port of Singapore on the SGD 0.50 coin, Changi International Airport on the SGD 0.20 coin, Singapore's Public Housing on the SGD 0.10 coin and The Esplanade on the SGD 0.05 coin.

To commemorate this launch, the Singapore Mint will be issuing 3 Premium Sets of coins --
    1. The Third Series Silver Proof Coin Set
    2. The Third Series Uncirculated Coin Set
    3. The Second and Third Series Uncirculated Coin Set

More information is available at http://www.singaporemint.com under 'e-shop' => 'New Arrivals'.

New series of circulating coins are rare in Singapore. The first series, featuring some of Singapore's marine life, was launched in 1967.

The second series, featuring some of Singapore's flora, was launched in 1985, some 18 years after the first series.

This third series is being launched some 28 years after the second series.

    Hi, Craig,

At the moment, the Singapore Mint is only selling the complete set of its third series of circulating coins in proof condition. The proof set of 5 coins costs SGD 280. Mintage of this proof set is limited to 20,000 worldwide.

I'll email the Mint to ask if it will sell individual proof coins of the third series.

At the current rate of exchange of USD 1 = SGD 1.2562 [according to the Development Bank of Singapore's website], this proof set will cost about USD 222.89, excluding postage and handling.

Yes, the silver proof coin set is pricey.

I've received a reply from the Singapore Mint and it's another bad news -- it won't be selling individual coins from the silver proof sets. :(

The Uncirculated coin set costs about USD 12, 'though, excluding postage and handling.

Maybe I'll try and get hold of some rolls of the new coins from the banks when they're launched and put them up for sale here. Can't guarantee their quality but as they'd be newly launched, they ought to be close to mint state, I think.

Okay, I'll try and get hold of some rolls of the new coins from the banks when they're launched later this year. :D

At the moment, the Singapore Mint is only taking orders for the Premium Sets above, which will be available on April 26, 2013.
