Hi... I have this coin.. and I think it's a British one, but I am not sure... Any one can help me to identify it, please? It's an One Shilling from 1949... Is it rare too!!??? Check the two pics out... Thanks!!!
What a quick reply... thanks alot fastfun1111 Any more info about it, please... like the name of the man who his picture appear in it... and does it consider to be an old piece...
Hello Thamer and welcome to the forum! The guy on the coin is King George VI who was king from 1936-1952.He was the father of the present Queen Elizabeth II. By coin collecting standards,1949 is not considered to be particularly old and the shillings of that year are fairly common and inexpensive to buy. It IS a nice looking coin though, isn't it? Here is a photo of George.
Thanks alot, Mikjo0, for wellcoming me to this forum and all the information that you post... This is what I love about collecting coins, you can know lots of information about other cultures and countries by looking to thier coins Thank you so much!!!
This is a British shilling with the Scottish crest. Also depicted are the St.Andreas cross and the thistle, national symbols of Scotland. Great-Britain also issued shillings with the crest of England. I depict it below.
