As far as we can tell. I had three dealers look at it and they think so.

Tracy, don't give up, I can't tell you how many rolls I have searched before I found anything good. But that one roll that has that one coin you are look for is still out there. You just have to believe and keep searching. If you don't look for it, you will not find it.

I try to search 1/2's whenever I can find them.

In October a friend got me $200 in 1/2's and I found (are ya ready?):
    11 1964 P JFK's, and
    13 Clad silver ('65= #3, 66= #2; 67= #3, 68D, #4; 69D = #1.)

Last time, in $100 of 1/2's I only got: 1 half clad: 1966, but also a 1996 S proof. Naturally the proof was abused in the bag.

    I keep trying.
Searching cent rolls can be fun, but usually only about 5 or 10 wheaties per box of $50. Not much else.

    40%

I got three rolls of halves at my bank today, And came out with 10 halves between 1965 and 1969. I was pretty happy. Not 90% silver but I'll take 'em.:thumb: :D

    almost frustrated

Well, last friday I went to my bank and turned in the 100 dollar bag of nickels I had gotten the previous friday. In that bag I found 2 buffalo nickels and was happy with that.

I asked for a bag of quarters, but they didn't have any so I took a bag of dimes.. uggg. It has been a tedious chore going through 500 dollars worth of dimes, but luckily the wife was in the mood to help me go through them and when I was at work today she finished going through what was left and we only found 1 1951d. The rest were post 65.

I mentioned them ordering a 500 dollar box of halves and they said that since they weren't the main branch that they couldn't order them. I was trying to be super friendly with them and asked as politely as I could muster if they would call the main branch and ask if they would order me some halves from the fed.
She asked the teller next to her if she would do it and she did.
They asked me if I wanted to keep the halves or what.
(I felt as if I would have had a suit and tie on instead of dirty work clothes I might have gotten a little more respect, but I do pay theyre saleries to an extent and I try not to let theyre opinions of what I wear get to me)

I explained that I was a coin collector and wanted to search through them for collectible coins and was there a problem with that. She got on the phone with the main branch and was talking to someone there and I heard her explaining the situation about them having a collector here wanting to go through halves. She said to me that they would only order them If I purchased a  ONE THOUSAND dollar bag. I was livid under the skin, but said fine. I really didn't wanna put that much out of my checking account at one time, but was too irritated about the situation to say no. I sure hope I am fortunate enough to find some decent coins in the bag. I hopefully will get them tomorrow if they have them. Wish me luck :)

Good luck indeed, I will never understand why the silver witches at banks have such a hard time about giving up halfs, know one wont's them but us just don't understand.

A couple of interesting finds in one of the rolls of cents I picked up yesterday.

A 1949 with some nice delamination cracks.

And one of the nicest 1942's I've ever found in roll from the bank. Both images were scanned using my Canon MP450.

Very nice 42 and 49 Tony. I just got a $50 bag of cents, much harder work to go through than the halves I've been searching. It would be worth it if I found a couple cents like those.

dabalzak - My bank is a small branch location and they have never had any problem ordering me as many halves as I want. Every time I go in they ask me if I found anything good in the last batch. I think it just depends on how much they are willing to help their "Customers".

    Losing heart...

Well, I have spent about 2 months trying to find a bank that would order a box of halves for me, as the local supply has been essentially picked clean. Finally, a bank with which I don't even have an account said yes. They ordered them for me. I picked them up today. I have been through 36 of the rolls so far. I have not found even a single silver in 720 coins. I've found a few really sharp late 90's-2004 clads, but I'm not really a clad collector, though I've pulled them out just so I've got something... Is this unusual? It's the first box I've ever gotten, and it took alot of work to get it. I almost dread opening these last 14 rolls...

Searched 9 rolls of halfs. One 1968D, one 2001D.
    Mostly mutated casino coins.

Check_M_All - I've had 1 $500 box that had no silver. Most of the time I at least find a few. I've yet to find a great box like I've seen some peple talk about (Many Walkers and Franklins, plus rolls of silver Kennedys). I keep hoping it will happen someday. Keep searching, maybe you got your bad box out of the way and the next one will be the mother load.

It's not that unusual- I have had banks order boxes for me 3 at a time and wound up with _no_ silver of any kind... pretty disappointing but not unusual! My average is probably around 0.5% silver from boxes: i.e. 5 silver (40% or 90%) in a box.

Dangit! I searched through over $150 in quarters and dimes.

Did I find any silver ones? Nope. I found 1 bicentennial and 3 Tennesee quarters. I also found 2 wheat pennies out of 10 rolls of pennies I got.

To-date I've searched over 800 quarters and over 400 dimes and not a single one has been silver. Funny thing is, I've found 3 silver coins at cash registers in October alone.

Am I having bad luck or what's going on here? :headbang:

The coins I get come from my bank which come from American Security LLC, which is like an armored car/coin distributing place I assume. Maybe they weed out everything good?

I search quarters and dimes, but don't really expect to find anything in them. Halves have always yielded at least a little something... except for this first box I got. In the past I have only been able to buy out rolls that others had brought in to different banks. In quarters and dimes... I have only found one silver dime. I tend to think that these are more picked through because they are commonly used and that halves are a better source for silver because they are not really circulated too much.
