..the ground at this park is not kind to the coins. Must use a lot of fertilizer there. The Indian heads and wheaties are toast. I think 3 of em are indian heads. Plus the silver comes outta the ground stained. Still fun to find. The merc fared pretty well.
Nice finds, I use a White's DFX (used to use an XLT) what machine are you running? I haven't found much lately. Been hitting the beach mostly.
Jim: I'm in New York, on Long Island. I'm going to the convention this weekend, Myrtle Beach, So. Carolina. The FMDAC. Are you going?
Nope. Sounds like fun. Don't have the moola. You live in a great state for old coin finds. Whats your prize find so far?
LOL I read and listen more that I talk, Jim. I also work long hours, and am away from my computer a lot. Keep searching, Keep us posted, and good luck to you, sir.
I want to get in to metal detectors I am interested in getting in to finding old coins with metal detectors, however I am in california. not as old as the rest fo the states. Any ideas where to start looking? I tried a while back the half dolor thing a bunch of you guys were doing with only a few silvers in like 5 grand of halfs. so I think california is dead...any ideas about the metal detecting. thanks!
As a matter of fact, it is quite a bit older than most states. Europeans began living in California in the 1500's.
research your area. If your near old 49er sites hit those. Old home sites are great spots. Research research research. Location location location. Go to places where people hung out way back when. Plus don't forget you will find a lot more S mint mark coins than I will out east. 1909 S VDB wheatie would be nice.
