Fake 1876 trade Dollar?

    is it magnetic, if it is its fake silver. Not neccesarily meaning that if it isnt magnetic it is silver, but It probably would be real silver, and I never see silver fakes or attempts to fakes that are silver.

    Auggh. So many "Silvers"

    A large majority of the current crop of fakes meet specification (and are non-magnetic), including many that are struck on 90% silver planchets. Here's an older thread that may help you:

    Oh forgot to mention the coin is 38 mm ~ 26.5 g, seems light and below mint tolerance

    I just noticed "TRADE DOLLAR" seems misplaced by being too high

    those counterfeits are improving though

    That is an older chinese fake and not really a very good one. Almost certainly not silver, the surface texture is all wrong, the color is off, strike characteristics are off, and the denticals are horrible.

    Oh and as you mention the weight is off.
