Had to get this for me set of coins with my dogs on them Laranda, Lycaonia, c. 332 B.C. Silver obol, SNG Levante 225, SNG BnF 443, VF, 0.692g, 11.5mm, 270o, Laranda mint, c. 332 BC; obverse Baal seated left on backless throne, holding grain ear in right, long scepter vertical behind in left; reverse forepart of wolf right, crescent horns downward above, all within a double circular border of dots "Laranda, known today as Karaman, Turkey, was destroyed by Perdiccas in about 322 B.C. and later became a seat of Isaurian pirates."
very interesting. I love dogs. I've been in some countries where they hate dogs and some where they ate dogs.
Lovely coin Randy. Glad to see new puppies being added, even if its in coin form. More they mean something the better
=> huh? ... there are a couple/few dogs on those coins, but dogs are actually fairly rare on ancient coins, eh? (ummm, unless I am totally missing something ... ummm, more than usual) ... oh, and yah, I know that's a "wolf" sucklin' twins, but it looked so much like larry that I had to toss it into the mix!! Oooops ... sorry Randy ... man, I don't know what happens sometimes? ... it seems like I'm addicted to posting coins!! (sorry, my bad)
