This medal has been on my radar for some time. I saw this nice one come up for sale on eBay a few weeks ago, and I had to have it. It's a restrike, listed by NGC as "modern restrike" -- unfortunately, the mark/information I need to see to get an idea of how "modern" is on the edge, and not viewable in the NGC holder. Nonetheless, it has a nice aged patina to the surfaces, and quite nice look. If I had to guess, I'd say it is a restrike from sometime in the first half of the 20th Century.
I also got this quite scarce Rhodesia 1951 3 pence in very good condition. Now is worth like a trillion ZIM dollars!!
Still on a silver Franc binge... 1933 France 20 francs, 20g, 35mm, .680 silver: 1933B and 1954B Switzerland 5 francs, 15g, 31.45mm, .835 silver. Took long as heck to find any of these without a crazy premium.
Stupid 5 image limit... Here's the other side of the '54: I'm sure you can tell why I got them at a good price! I'll post the rest in a little while.
Got these in Canada last week. The SA 1962 20 cents is a rare variety (the 2 in 1962) not yet recognized by NGC and others. The circulated 2.5 shilling have a mintage of only 12,000.
I have had this one on my list for around 2 years. Finally found one that I liked. The scuffs are on the plastic, and the coin itself has some gold toning around the rims, and full frosty devices.
A fellow PCGS forum member tipped me off about this one being up for sale and I ended-up pulling the trigger. Common date, less than common grade / condition. Plus I didn't have an 1803 FT in my PCGS Charles IV registry set. Based on PCGS photos it appears there's a bit of color, as well. Here are seller's images and PCGS image that was taken for CoinFacts:
