I don't usually buy the sets but I'll buy one of each design in MS and Proof. I don't see a reason to think the set will sell out.
I know I'm getting the halves, they're reasonably priced so that was a no brainer. For the dollars I might grab them as I like the designs, even though they're a little high priced.
well the 3 coin set has a mintage of 10k and i am short on money so was wondering what will give first
I'll be getting a couple of the MS $5 coins need one for my set. And got real lucky with last years coins.
If you had to guess, What do you think the mint will charge for the set. Wondering if i will have a chance to buy one or be way too expensive for me.
The individual introductory prices would be $470.70 + $17.95 + $54.95. So that is $543.60 but they might knock a few dollars off for the combined packaging. So $539.95 would be my guess. Of course, if gold goes up over $1600 per ounce the gold coin price will increase.
Ok,Thanks!! I figured 450 or higher. Looks like i might just get the silver proof and maybe the halve.
I was just wondering why MacArthur was the only general to get his own coin in this set and gold to boot. Do any of the military historians in the crowd here have any idea?
Not a military historian, but I can imagine Eisenhower not getting his own coin this series because he already has one from 1990.
... And a whole series of dollars. So that makes the Ike series, the 1990 commemorative, the 5 star coin, and the eventual presidential dollar for Eisenhower.
You can't really put the Ike Dollar Series as a reson though, just for the fact that Washington, Lincoln have had a Silver Commem coin as well, and have a coin series still depicting their image. So I see that as less likely a reason for having him on a coin with another General.
The Mint has been raising its spread, so I think it's fair to assume the price will be based upon the highest cost of the underlying metals in the trailing 6 months + the cost of packaging ($5) + an acquisition premium (say $7.95). I'd guess $565.
Folks, there's no need to guess...this information is in the Mint's pricing grid. Assuming the price of gold remains in its current band ($1550-$1599), the set will be regularly priced at $551.50, but will carry a $5 introductory discount for the first month. The price of the set goes up/down by $12.15 for each $50 band that the price of gold changes.
