The only way to make money buying off dealers is to cherry pick a rare variety . The way dealers buy coins is off of people on the street , they pay under retail , or they buy from other dealers that they know . If you're not in the loop you will pay more , and will never be able to compete with their prices . One way is to put an add here or in a trade paper to buy coins off of collectors who want to get rid of unwanted coins , you can get some nice coins at near wholesale or a little over , then if you bought the right coins , some coins are always in demand , some are harder to sell , you can make some money selling to collectors .

Is the dealer supposed to pay any more than he thinks you will accept? You must do research PRIOR to selling. Also, don't buy through dealers and expect to sell them back at a a profit. That's just common sense.

That's sad dear fellow, and the reason why I collect coins and not try to wheel and deal. If you want to make money in this hobby then you have to really do your homework........and still, you can loose your undershorts.

Hello,If I may suggest if you would have a price in mind when you would like to sell your items to these coin dealer's that might help you so you don't keep losing money.

I agree with Clutchy send your cheque back. I have been collecting US coins since the 1980's, their value has risen over time, I know what to expect if I was to sell them.

Well, I've known some drug addicts, and they all seem perfectly happy with their situation. It's all the OTHER people that have the problem with it.

Given the examples of the coins that have shown by the OP, I don't think the problem is with the dealer.

I hate to beat a dead horse but you are posting P1 - FR2 coins and you say you paid $100+ for them?

I agree with everyone above, but if i were a dealer i probably would not touch them with a ten foot pole.

Interesting... now that the OP has provided more information on the coins, no one seems to be jumping on the dealer or calling him a "loser" anymore. It is rather unfortunate that almost every time someone starts a one-sided thread, many here automatically take sides and make the uninformed assumption that the seller or dealer is to blame. This is a fine example of why it is wise not to jump to conclusions about either party involved, be it the seller or the buyer.
