The coin is gold and says FRONT: "6th President USA" "1825-1829" "John Quincey Adams" BACK: "The Diarist" "Son of second president. Minister to various foreign countries. Secretary of state after presidency. Was antislavery leader in Congress." "Old man eloquent" I found it in a sewer we dug up along with a bunch of regular us coins like pennies from the early 1900s. Any history or info will help thank you. My email is deleted Thanks

to CoinTalk slizofski. You have described a privately issued medal, not a coin. If it is gold-colored it may be gold, brass, aluminum bronze, or colorized. Frequently such medals are struck in multiple metals. It is obvious from Drusus' posting that there was a series honoring multiple presidents. How many would depend entirely on when it was made. Unless one of our members happens to be familiar with the series, there isn't much more anyone here can tell you.
I have been unloading some of them on ebay as well.. Generally they are going for a buck or so. Not worth even listing.
