Yes, but it would be nice to see them readily accepted. In the past week I have spent $2 bills twice, and I have gotten the "I've never seen one of these" statement. One of my banks just had someone cash in a load of them. They were so upset about it. I've been buying some up each week. Last week I asked for 10 of them. She gave me 10 sequential series 1976 without so much as a single fold in them. I told her to keep counting them out until I said stop. In total, I walked out with 18 bills in sequence. I don't know how valuable they may be to a collector... I don't really go for currency too much at this time, but it seemed like a good pull, so I've got them. Anybody have any thoughts? Series 1976, Minneapolis, starts I 25042661 B and ends with I 25042678 B. Should I ask this in a seperate thread maybe?
Image the veiw that all those founding fathers get these days. Oh, providing that the bill in tucked in the correct side facing the...:goofer:
I heard something on the tv about the $2 bill being re-introduced. Didn't catch much about the specifics though. Bought an uncut sheet of 32 a couple years back, just before the mint stopped selling them at about $20 mark-up per sheet. The mark-up is much too high now, when you can find uncut sheets. Bob
If you heard it on the TV recently then the specifics probably don't matter because most likely they don't know what they are talking about. The $2 bill was "re-introduced" thirty years ago and has been available ever since with additional printings whenever needed to replace supplys consumed.
My bank always has $2 bills, in fact last week I got two 100 note BEP packs, still in wrapper consecutive brand new. I use them for tips, the bartenders/waitresses seem to remember you better. I also caught the tail end of something on TV, but I thought they said the BEP will stop printing them this year. I didn't catch the whole story though, anyone? Years ago (40) I used to go to the track pretty regular, lots'a $2 bills there.
Yes, and you can always tell the ones from the track, because the corners were torn off. Supposedly it was bad luck so people torn off the corners. What the logic was? beats me.
I have bought alot of mine from local banks, I had a pack of 2003's and a pack of 1995's uncs that I bought I just sold them back though. Ask if they can order them, I have been able to order bricks of unc dollars you just have to have them call their money provider
I get the brand new uncirculated 2003 $2 from my bank. I have about 20 so far that I gained from using pcket change. Get 1 one day, maybe 2 the next. I love currency it is just neat.
I'll spend the Series 2003's if i get them. But the 1976 series and 1995 series i keep as i do all older notes before 1995. I have quite a few crisp 1976's kicking around and even a CU 1976 star note. Maybe i'll spend a few of my 1995's this week as i haven't had a 2003 in some time
I have heard that you can find red seal US Notes in the bank packs of $2.00 bills. Of course thes would be circulated and only have a retail of $5 or so.
Www.thetwodollarbillcompany.com. They do have a mark up to cover shipping and tax but if you want mint ones and your bank doesn't have them like mine never seems to then it works for me
