I use a German brand which were recomended to me as having a neutral effect on the coins, I cant see a company selling self sealing coin hilders with a glue that would damage the coin! De Orc
I dont know most of the time I use safeflips since there "one size fits all" but mylars are cheap you can write on them easilly you dont have to worry about your coins falling out and they look very professional
I use 2x2s for circulated coins and low value uncirculated. I use airtites for any coin where condition is important. But I can't ever recall any coins suffering any damage by being in a 2x2 even for very long periods of time.
I went on a stapling frenzy to put circulated duplicates in 2x2s until I figure out what to do with them. Three staples. My flatclinch stapler is great - no need for pliers. And I use a staple remover instead of prying them open with a knife. Let's just say I learned the hard way. Is it even possible to secure a coin in a 2x2 with one staple?
I toss them as soon as I get the coins home.I hate 2x2 cardboard flips because I find them fugly. The ONLY exception is my German Nazi coins because.....well because they deserve it...LOL
I use tape on the three open edges of the 2X2. Then I put them in 2X2 sheets that hold 20 2X2's. They look great this way. I buy "D" ring binders to hold these pages. My dollar coins and commemoratives I put in airtites. I don't like the look of staples on a 2X2, specially when they're old and corroded.
I always use three staples. Left, right, and bottom of the coin. It still stays nice and tight. Flat clinch staplers rock.
AirTites & Safeflips. Only use 2x2's (3 staples) when I am am out of the other two and for my elongates.
I use 3 most of the time, except when I have an odd sized coin that does not fit snugly in the flip, then I use 4.
none. I remove all of my coins from the cardboard holders, the coins either go: 1. to a TPG for slabbing 2. into a dansco album 3. into an airtite Here is a tip on how i remove coins from the 2x2 cardboard holders to minimize the risk of staple damage: I get a soft cloth and lay it down as my work surface I then use an xacto knife to cut the milar film a tthe pint where it touches the cardboard (i cut through all the way to the other side) I pull the cardboard up and the coin stays put, in a mylar sandwich. coin goes into its new home. I have never had a coin damaged this way, but i also have very steady hands and years of working on model kits, so i know my way around an xacto. this can get tricky with large size coins that are stuffed into the 2x2's (like morgans) but i rarely purchase anyting bigger then a half dollar.
As few as possible, but then I usually use a holder that is larger than the one recommended for the coin, say nickel size for a dime, so you can see the coin clearly, all sides. Also, it is safer to cut out of the holder, simply pierce the plastic.
Hello, I use 4 staples on all 2x2 except for $ which I use 3. I alos bought a stapler that leaves a flat staple so there are ne raised edges on the staple. The stapler is a MAX HD-50DF. It saves a lot of time and is worth every penny.
