Just wondering how the hobby is doing for your collection in coin value.

I for one have seen more Franklins being graded in Pr-dcams in grade of 68 in the past year causing my coin values to drop almost 30% in value.

So, can you share what has increase in value in your collections or what coins have dropped in value putting you in that fence leaning mode. Should I rather sell or keep and hope it doesn't drop anymore.

Here is a franklin I have shown before that is a 68 Dcam/proof. Sorry reverse pic won't work but you know what I am asking from you guys. Thanks G:confused:

My main series is still in a dip some coins are down as much as a grand. Now is the time to pick up missing pieces. The only problem is most but not all of the quality pieces are not coming on the market..

All of my US coins and currency seem to be worth a lot less than they were worth several years ago. I take some of my heavily circulated examples to the grocery store and the people there seem to want more and more of it in exchange for their wares.

    This.

My Kennedy registry set has come to a standstill. Anybody who's got a coin with a little bit of color on it thinks it's worth hundreds of dollars, even in lower MS grades, and a lot of them won't budge on price. So I'm holding off for now. Let 'em collect dust until the sellers get reasonable.

I like your choice.. As I own multi pounds of high graded Morgans and of course my Franklins, it's a shame they are not heating up for collectors. I for one didn't like Franklins at one time, but fell in love when I found out that many Franklins were melted for spot value years ago.

Is this new reconsideration service making more plus grades that are causing this down turn in values?

agreed there. If you still like a particular series, all the better to pick them up cheaper when they are out of style.

    +1.

Although we may be waiting a long time for colorful toning to go out of style so we can pick them up cheap! :D

I try to buy good examples of affordable coins for reasonable money. I like sales but need to keep quality as a priority over a great price, which is sometimes hard for me. Warren comes to mind.

My coin collecting summed up into two little sentences.

Reconsideration isn't a huge factor for me. I'm collecting toned coins in middle-MS grades. It's just that attractively-toned coins are held in such high esteem, that even a guy with an MS63 with an edge of rainbow wants a hefty paycheck. And my offers are now getting refused more often than not. I guess some folks paid moon money for rainbow toners and they expect at least as much in return.

Maybe they'll get it, but not from me. I've gotten a few great deals over the last few months, so I'll stick to bargain hunting.

some of my coins have gone down some have jumped high in value. I am not on any fence to sell anytime soon. just gonna hold on to them and enjoy looking at them. their like old friends to me. they're are however some coins I would sell to buy/trade for other coins in June. I really like the look of your deep cameo franklin.
