Is this coin an 1888 over 7 indian cent?

    1. i can't tell if this 1888 indian cent is an 1888 over 7 overdate coin. i have uploaded a photo of this coin. any info. about this coin would be helpful. thanks 1888 indian cent 1.jpg

    hard to tell from the picture but it does appear to have the nub at the bottom of the 3rd 8. So maybe, could be, need a better picture :D

    The picture quality isn't good enough to say with much certainty, but I don't see the cud that clips off 3 denticles above the E in UNITED. This is almost a requirement for verifying this variety according to Snow's IHC Redbook.

    Can't tell a thing from your pic...

    But if it doesn't have this rim cud above "UNITED", it isn't the variety

    There is also a SNOW-2 variety which has led to much discussion as to what it actually is, repunched date or overdate. Here are photos from my variety of that. Jim

    after looking at the coin closer i do see that my coin seems to have the rim cud above united.
