Weakly magnetic 2002 Ohio state quarter?

My boyfriend was edge-checking rolls at work and found this quarter whose edge appears to be missing the copper layer (I'm assuming it just isn't visible). I've been reading up on the forums and found that the quarter is most probably plated. I also gathered that all of the post-mint plated quarters are basically worthless (well, y'know, worth face value). I am just curious now if anyone here knows what it might be plated with? The metals used for plating that I've seen most commonly suggested have been platinum, gold and silver. None of these, however, is magnetic. I saw one person who said they'd once seen a coin plated with nickel--is that most likely what is giving this quarter its magnetic property? I don't have a scale, unfortunately. All I've got is the photos. Thanks in advance for your input !

    therocktjb Wait, what**

I don't think it would be nickel plated, but could be steel though I can't imagine why anyone would coat a quarter in steel on the ridges :)

Is that a magnet for hearing aids by chance? I ask because I have about 1000 of those magnets from my last clinic (I'm an ENT Tech in the Army by job).

bryantallard show me the money....so i can look through it

you know....i have a 2000 S.C. quarter that looks the same. when i posted it was said that they were plated. however, i might possibly raise the question...is there any chance it is struck on the wrong planchet?

Silver in color, no copper visible on the edge sure points at plated. Slightly magnetic points at nickel, or just maybe chrome but it doesn't appear as "shiny" as chrome would be. I here people talking about plating with steel from time to time but I can't recall ever actually seeing a case of plating with steel. Steel is basically iron with carbon in it. I would think if you tried plating with steel you might end up with an iron plating, but not steel. And with an iron plating you would have a rusting problem.
