I like them and like to collect them. i know they have no really following in our hobby; but i think the are unique, there for worth saving good examples. i will start with some of mine; 1960 p small date with a rim to rim die crack on the obverse 1983 P lincoln with six separate die cracks
I enjoy a good die crack and will pay more for some of them. They just help make the coin unique to me.
this one surprised me as i had no idea that a TPG would attribute and label die chips. i got it in a trade.
Nice die cracks The two die cracks on the reverse of your 1983 cent could have eventually caused the die to fall apart resulting in a cud something like this:
Here are different examples of "BIE" Lincoln cents. One of them looks like it has a candle flame rising from the E. The last photo depicts a 1953-D where the D is an RPM. This one is not rare but it is certainly dramatic IMO. These coins were all found while roll searching under the microscope. :smile I also found some “cracked skull” Lincolns but have no photos.
my 1897 barber dime, with what i assume is a die chip above the 7. sorry for the poor quality pic, looking to upgrade soon.
Fun roll searching This puppy was also found while roll searching with the microscope. I forget the coin's date.
