I have found a quarter that doesn't have any ridges on it. Just wondering if it was made that way, or if it is worn/ground down on the edges. Here are the pics I have: http://www.rfmac.com/coin/ I did not mic it, but it feels like it is the same size, if not larger than a ridged quarter... Anyone have any clues? Bob
Firstly, don't hold a coin by its faces! It can leave oils on the surface of the coin, making it dirtier. I personally believe the rim has just slightly been worn down, enough to make it look like it is smooth, sorry! Keep looking for coins!
