That is what I am talking about - one of the most lovely silver medals from that era. I have been looking for one that is all original and uncleaned though. A box would be a big plus.
The hat on the stick was a theme representing freedom from the Roman era - the Phrygian cap - and it lasted in America until the demise of the seated liberty coinage in 1891: Purchased from LostDutchman back in 2007, I vaguely remember him vainly trying to extract some promise not to sell to anybody but back to him... ...Yeah right. This image is a bit dark, actually the coin is more of a rose pink and blue hue.
OK... so I have a towel on my head. What of it !!! It keeps my mind from being read by space aliens, who are on welfare.
Nope... Only Hasidics still wear it though (I live near a Hasidic area... I see these hats all the time)
