This is my first Antoninianus of Caracalla and from what Curtis Clay has told me, its a scarce type. Got this coin really cheap, cheaper then a video game:D

Very nice. Great portrait. I'm not sure I've ever seen a coin with Pluto before. :thumb::thumb::thumb:

Definitely a nice coin and a mean looking Caracalla portrait. I haven't ever seen Pluto either.

I wouldn't be surprised if Pluto was a rare reverse...

Later, God of the Underworld, Wealth and the Dead.

    Not exactly a cheerful subject.

I know doug has this type, in better shape and from what I remember this reverse is popular due to the 3 headed dog, Cerberus

For people who dont know who he is; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cerberus

I know I have posted both of these before but it may have been on another venue. The bronze is a Provincial of Septimius Severus from Nikopolis. There are some antoniniani which have been cataloged as having the Minotaur instead of Cerberus and I have seen a couple I believe may be that type. Curtis Clay says they are just poorly drawn Cerberus coins. There is a nice on on acsearch as I recall but the seller there also called it Cerberus so that seems to be the current scholarly view. Certainly both of our antoniniani are Cerberus types but I would like to get one that looked Minotaur whether the cutter intended it or not.

Cool pickup! Love the fierce expression he has. This is one emperor I don't have yet.

Ummm, don't quote me, but I'm pretty sure that this is Cerberus' cousin, Herb?
