Wasn't there another member, fairly new, who knew exactly what the grade was and insisted it was that grade, even though the majority of us disagreed wholeheartedly with his grade and he refused to submit it to one of the top two TPGs because a jeweler graded it and after all a jeweler was more knowledgeable than PCGS and NGC combined? Well at least the OP has made any ridiculous claims as to ridiculous offers they've received for this one, like the other member I mentioned above, just saying.
It actually does say "CH AU" and you can confirm this by looking at the way "UNC" is written on the holder for the other dime. In both cases, the U is written in a consistent manner.
In other words xGAJx, grading uncirculated coins can be very difficult and it's probably best to reserve judgment until years after you think you know how to do it. Coin grading books are nice, but somethings require a great deal of field testing to really understand. Unfortunately for all numismatists, seeing the subtleties between an Ms-60 or 62, 63 or 64 isn't as cut and dry as a scuff here or a bag mark there. Forums like these are even better educational tools because you have hundreds of years worth of knowledge available to you, but don't believe ANY grade assigned to a coin from a picture (yours or anyone else's), because unless one has seen the coin in-hand, all you have is an estimation/opinion. Photographs have far to many variables. Sorry for going off topic..... The question was about whether or not you had a good price at $5 & $7, right? Yes, you did well, it's probably about retail because a dealer wouldn't be much of a dealer if s/he didn't know what a fair price would be, but hey, you have two very nice better grade Mercs that you enjoy, and that's what really matters!
