We all know blue pack ike's usually are the dullest thing to ever roll out of mint packaging. I was shocked to see this coin. Is this unusual or do I normally only get the scuzzy sets? :p I know the pics don't show the true luster behind this thing but can take better photos later. I might have to take a video to show his cartwheels!

Is that in a blue pack ?

It looks like a brown box proof to me !

Haha it's a blue pack. My desk just so happens to match brown box ikes. I was thinking of maybe doing a little brown box ike paneling on the walls :p

That definately looks worthy of being sent off to one of the TPGs. Nice Ike.

Usually the 74s are the ones with the awesome luster and killer strike, but that one is just as good if not better. I love it!

You CANNOT compare 1971-S's to 1972-S's as totally different handling processes were used.

Yes, you're coin looks nice. Any idea what those spots are?

That is a particularly nice one. I'd send it off, as it is extremely clean, and will grade quite high. The mint cello pack ones are very variable.

I wasn't aware that there were different handling processes used between the two years. I was just shocked to see one with so many fingerprints. That's what those spots are. Like 50 fingerprints sealed in a cello.

I have noticed that two. I couldn't believe the luster on the 72. I have gone through maybe 200 or more blue pack ikes and this is the first one of this quality and luster I have seen.

I think it is at least a 67. As far as 68, it depends on the spots and how it looks in hand.

Fingerprints would be easy to deal with. The prints on the coins you've shown are actually "milk spots" or the same substance that "milk spots" are made of and cannot be removed. Those coins are nothing more than 40% Silver Bullion.

For a 72-S it has to be a 68 or it's not really worth grading. Price guide for a MS67 is only $48.00 and you will have a hard time getting that at sale.

I know fingerprints are easy to remove. But, you are telling me these perfect louped fingerprints are milk spots? I am not so sure about that. It serious looks like someone was palmed this coin and rolled it into a fist. You can make out 3 digits and a thumb!

No doubt but.....it was palmed before the rinse agent was completely rinsed off the coin. As such, its there to stay.

Of course, you could prove me wrong by using whatever method you choose to try and remove them.
