So I want to upgrade my cc morgan and want opinions.

first up is my current cc morgan, 83cc ms64

    1883 CC Morgan Dollar PCGS MS64 19272315.jpg

now as you'll notice, she has two nicks near the nose, almost like dipples.

Now here is the one I'm watching. The pictures don't seem the best but from my inspection it seems nick free compared to my original one. face seems smooth.

now the picture does seem kind of cloudy, I can't tell if thats the photo or the coin, the coin may very well be lusterous in hand. And again at close examination I don't see the type of nicks present in my current morgan.

What I'm asking is do ya'll feel this morgan would be a worthy upgrade from my original?

    Thanks.

well from the pictures the 2nd coin definitely looks nicer. i am not really sure what the difference in value is from one grade to the other. both are nice coins. the 64 is a lot nicer. that is only my opinion. i know there are many others that have more experience with morgans that will chime in i am sure. :thumb:

Urban, both are 1883 cc ms64 PCGS coins. Nothing changes except for wanting a better example.

It's not what you would consider an upgrade. It's just an improvement in the appearance so you can sleep better at night.

IMO the only way to get one better that you like is to have really good pictures or see one in hand. If that is the picture you have to go on I would pass. It may look nicer in the picture, but in hand who knows. To me it looks hazy and could be hiding worse bag marks. Just my opinion.

Chris, what's your opinion on these two pieces?

The coin you currently have has a really nice look to it and, as long as there are no surprises on the reverse, looks to my eyes to be a great MS64. The potential new coin has images that are just too small for me to determine anything. Regardless, I like your current coin.

Yours also looks like it could be an EDS VAM 5B. If the price is right on the one you don't have and you want it, go for it. Yours is definitely no slouch.

I say keep the one you have. It has the look I like: blazing luster and a strong strike. Hits don't bother me. On the other hand, if those hits on yours catch your eye every time you look at it - sell it and get one you are truly happy with.

A MS64 coin is gonna have a few marks. Pics aren't good enough to say either way on the one you are considering.

Definitely NOT an upgrade in any way. I think the coins are equivalent. Look for a nice MS 65 coin, as they are not expensive, and the upgrade would make far more sense.

Now, if you are talking about upgrades, this one is an upgrade, and not much more than the 63-64 coins go:
