Far too many hits for gem status--won't make a 65 with the hits on the cheek and the reverse. Nice strong strike. I'd say MS 64 easily.
The photos make it look MS64. There is a nice die clash on the reverse field just to the right of the eagle's left wing (the eagle's wing on the right as you face the coin).
No, I don't think it was cleaned. I think it was dipped lightly years ago, and has retoned. It would get slabbed as a 64.
That is one of the common clashes that you will see on Morgan dollars. You can also see the clash of the leading edge of the eagle's right wing (viewer's left) on the obverse at the juncture of her neck and jaw. If you look closely just below that clash, you may see a letter transfer of the bottom of the right leg of "n" from IGWT. It would be upside down. These letter transfers are most often the clashes that get attributed as VAM's. Chris
Well, I hand picked it at a coin shop. I think I'll submit it to PCGS with my next order (after I get a few more coins to send with it). I bet the consensus here is correct. MS64.
