Good thing this auction ends for me tomorrow. The BP is a killer. But it's not eBay shopping. I think I'll try BIN next. Did the surface change after it was slabbed? Not sure what happens with .500 silver. WON Purchased $336 with BP LOT DESCRIPTION GERMANY. Weimar Republic. 5 Mark, 1930-J. Hamburg Mint. PCGS MS-63. KM-68; J-343.
Absolutely silver will change in a slab. I had an absolutely beautiful Type 1 standing Liberty quarter….. Understand that to me, beautiful is blast white. Just like the day it was minted. It was slabbed MS64 and was stored in my gun safe. Big mistake. In three years it toned a hideous ugly grey black. It was awful and I learned a big lesson about storing coins with guns…. Anyway, yes silver is very reactive and slabs are not impervious to the atmosphere. They absolutely can and do change in the slab.
It was exactly that instance that initially brought me to CoinTalk. Firearm cleaning chemicals attack copper and the chemicals linger forever enclosed in the gun safe. These days I have several safes. Three to be precise. Wife says if I get a fourth, I am out of here.
Man, that would free up some square footage for her hobbies. Lol I know better, from being here, than to put much weight in photos. It might be just like it was slabbed and in TrueView pics.
