ok was cruising for a deal a few weeks ago .. and found a deal and couldn't pass it up got this for about 25 dollars , first thing I did was run the number.. it checked out I was like im down for it.. cop'd it what ya think good find ... I think so.. soo here's the magic question the magic price is 20 at most 25 dollars what have cop'd that was a steal..?????
dang! you paid just above melt for a nice kennedy half! But I did better, I bought a 1993 90 % silver PF-65 SMS(special mint set) for 4 dollars.
nice.. I picked up a set of rosie dimes.. below s / about $8$ each close to half a set. 1946-64 they have some awesome toning
Sorry, its worth 20 dollars in the redbook in MS-63, not a special piece, and that redbook is retail.
1967 is a 40% silver issue - so its melt value was around $4.50 when I bought it. Still, it's not bad.
Here is a decent place to start for online price guides. All these prices are retail, you can do better: http://numismedia.com/fmv/pricesms/lnccnt/prices61.shtml
that's a great find, best I did last week was $15 and $16 for a couple of raw '64s and $5.95 for a raw '68
Hmm... Numismedia lists an MS62BN 1909 at $15.60. Nicer than any of my cents, for sure, but is that really a "steal"?
I think you did just fine in your purchase. Most coin shops that I go to, use Greysheet, so let's get one of the dealers to post what price it says it should be sold for out here. The Redbook is nice for a good estimate, but is far from what is actually used in a lot of cases in my experience.
dont you know the quote buy the coin, not the slab? A slab doesnt neccesarily make a coin worth more. It just gives a good protection, and a expert grade.
