I had to purchase this one. I picked it up this weekend in Kansas City. Not a normal purchase for me, but when I saw it I just had to have it. In hand the dark portions of the scan are actually a beautiful blue/green, however I think the details were well captured, and some of the red hues on the reverse were picked up pretty well.

1887 appears to be one of the more common dates for proof issues - even still only a bit over 1,000 were issued, which (in my opinion) makes this coin highly undervalued in Krause.

I often use Google for spell checking. It seems to be the quickest way to go when CT's spell check won't work with your browser. :high5:

I use Safari. Didn't even know there was a spellcheck. Always a day late and a dollar short...

Very nice coin! Would it be out of line for me to ask where in Kansas City you purchased this coin?

I purchased this coin at the monthly ARC show.

If you live in the Kansas City area, and would like to know more information about the show, shoot me a PM. It was my first time attending, but for a monthly show, I thought it was well worth the drive.

I agree. Sometimes a nice coin outside the usual gives a little flavor to the collection. It might not be a perminant fixture in my collection, but I'll enjoy it for now.

    A very nice coin.

Rick, that is a very nice British Proof 1/- coin. The only Proof 1/- coins I have is the pair dated 1970 (which was issued in Proof only as part of the British 1970 Proof set, which is actually a common set, despite the mintage figure that is quoted).

    Aidan.
