Why when the mintage is so high (15million ish) are they hard to get only one on eBay I can see only 1 and its an error coin which doesn't appeal to me ! I can only assume that they were melted down ? I know British west African coins were ?
Well, it's somewhat scarce due to it being issued for only one year and that it has the lowest mintage of all the British protectorate coins plus it's was the highest value coin issued at the time. All of these factors weigh in on why it is slightly above retail value these days.

Just noticed mine had a bit of a mark by the queens head on the 2s but considering the scarcity I'm still happy to have it!
