I find myself using different light sources but I'd like to buy one "coin" light/lamp... I thought maybe we could discuss what kind of lighting you use, where it's bought, etc. as I know it's a dig deal (and it seems not talked about much)
I think this is something the picture taking experts have discussed on other threads. Personally, the lamps that have the bendable necks seem to be the best option for non-professionals like myself. I picked one up at Goodwill for 5 bucks and was happy. I haven't spent a ton of time taking pictures lately, but it seems like this will help quite a bit over my current setup.
I am by no means an expert, but I use two bendable desk lamps that I bought at target for 99% of my pictures. The other 1% of the time I use a halogen desk lamp. Something to remember is that light position is a big factor in getting good pictures, so something that you can move around and aim at different angles is important.
I use a $30 desklamp, it works well for me. It's easy to move it around and the head rotates so I can direct the light how I need it to bring out the coin.
if you were using the 2 lights you would get better luster from the coin. the way gbroke has it set up
Never thought of two lights... gonna do that! I'm glad I asked (I know it's a short thread so thanks) I had seen a really "white" light at a show the other day and it really made the coin(s) look wonderful --- that's kinda why I asked initially....
