Found this dime a few days back it and it made me curious, considering I haven't collected coins in many years. It has the front rim and clad but no back. I apologize for the photos, they were taken with a cell phone. Any info would be appreciated.

Post mint damage. Someone took a grinder or other tooling to it.

can you weigh the dime? A weight would be helpful as anything other than the correct weight would tell us it was probably post mint damage.

Welcome to CT. Your dime could not have come from the mint that way. The reverse face has been removed after it left the mint. Weigh it. It should weigh 2.268 grams. I'm sure yours will come up short of that. Keep looking, though, real mint errors are out there.

I will try to get a set of scales but where I live, not something you want to have around.

    I agree...post-mint damage.
    Keep up the hunt!

no grinder marks plus the center has a spot where it looks as though it was hit by a stamp

The entire reverse is one big grinder or other abrasive swirl. Not to mention the damage on the obverse.

You don't need a scale to tell that it is PMD. There is no upset rim on the reverse. You can also see the arc of the circular grinder lines which someone probably tried to smooth out with a fine emery cloth of something.
