Hey all! Just poking through my stash of silver, came across this beauty of a toner. I wonder what you think it will grade?

Obverse: There are a couple points that look like they could have wear, most notably on the cheek, ear, and hair curl...

Reverse: Doesn't look like there's any wear, the white parts are only differences in toning...

    Anyway...here's the pics!

I'm not certain that those untoned areas are wear; they look to me like they might have come into closer contact with whatever toned the coin. My gut reaction is that this coin is MS.

AU-58 for sure if it didn't get bagged first.

I say slightly weak strucked Mid MS quarter, nicely toned. Worth getting certified

If you grade it AU, then where is the wear?

53S quarters don't have the best strike, that is true. But there is no way this is MS. Look at the first A in AMERICA and how flat it is. The M too. And the tips of the wings are worn.

These areas of the coin are not the high point of the design and generally will not show wear before the center of the eagle's breast is significantly worn. Regarding the wingtips, those are strike issues that are quite common in the series and can be so extreme that high end MS coins can show virtually no wingtip definition at all. The tops of the letters might be strike, but they may also just as likely be due to lighting given that these letters are not toned in the same manner as the surrounding letters.

Well, it's up to eBay to decide now...

    Thanks for the opinions!

    OBV:

Hair Curls, Bottom of Neck, Top of Widows Peak, Tip of Nose, Ponytail. Some field signs of wear.

    Rev:

Right Wings, Breast Feathers, Branches and Arrows.

I could be wrong. Could just be the photo but that's what it looks like to me.
