You do have some nice coins here. I'm assuming a lot of the scratches are on the holder, but there is still a lot of chatter on the obverse on practically all of them. The reverses look nice and clean for the most part. Some may have been dipped in the past due to not having the best luster, but that might just be the pics (it is always hard taking pics through slabs and holders). The early S mint Morgans are known for their great strikes and are thus kept as type coins a lot. SOme of the reverses could go as 64's or 65(the 78 and 79 are really nice and clean) but in general I think we're looking at a set of 62-63's. I really don't think any are AU's. Cool set!

Its hard to take photos through the plastic. I may open it and get better shots.

Good looking set of Morgans. I would say no need to open the case unless you really want to. Why risk damaging a coin even if its slightly.

I'd say that all of the coins are in the MS 62-64 range. Most of them look like average nice Morgans--MS 63 kind (somewhat baggy, but good looking).

Its interesting...I really really like the frosty look of the middle three...but they have the most chatter on the obverses. The first and last are the cleanest as far as hits, but they dont have the luster or overall "wow" the others do. I know different years are different years but although all are nice its too bad there isn't one coin that has it all. Combine the clean look of the 78 or 82 with the luster and frost of the 79 or 80 and you have a 65+ coin.

Yeah the luster pops a bit on the entire set like that. I really like it and it is a solid set. No gems, but rock solid in my book.

My opinion, for what it's worth -

    AU
    62
    63
    Damaged/scratched
    63

I reiterate my evaluation that they're all around 63 or so. No Au coins and none that are damaged. Normal bag marks for Morgans--remember folks, the acceptability level for dings and marks on a Morgan are pretty high. This isn't my coin, but as an example, look at the obverse on this baby--she made it into a MS 60 slab with all that jazz on the front. I AGREE with NGC's grade.

It's not a bad looking set you have there as long as the price was right. The mintmark on the 82 looks a little funky, though. Can you give us a close-up of it?

FWIW.......Some people remove the center screw at the top so they can hang the Capital holder on the wall.
