I heat seal my coins in SAflips and try to get the seal as close as possible to the coin. That keeps the coin from moving around or shifting.

What do you use to Heat seal the SAflips?

  4. Saflips only for me. Cardboard and staples have no business hanging around my coins.

Impulse heat sealer I bought from CoinWorld
about 15 years ago for $60. Still works great.

Subjecting plastic materials to heat can release substances used as plasticizers or can partly degrade the plastic to let off gasses that might harm the coins. Maybe I am just a worry-wart.

one of our members @Rocket city coin club
was using the sure safe books that won't allow toning
he sent off 5 to Pcgs secure the coin stiffer picked up what pervents toning so Pcgs just but in the old blue holder
so I would stick to paper slips or dansco .

"SAflips can be heat sealed across the open
pocket with an impulse Heat sealer."

    "Contains no PVC or Oil."

    "Heat Sealable."

I paid too much for my impulse sealer. :3three:

I've had nothing but positive experiences from JP's Corner...FWIW.

If you ever have a question as to whether a plastic contains any PVC, a quick and sensitive test is to heat up a copper wire and while it is still hot, touch a part of the plastic. Put the copper wire back into the flame and a green color indicates PVC.

You also should not see the word Mylar. Mylar
is not a material but a brand name for products
made from polyethylene terephthalate. That is
what you want to see if your looking for "mylar"
flips. I believe SAflips have that on the package
too but I'm at work right now and can't check.

Not quite. Mylar is polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and PET is Mylar, kind of like saying tissues are Kleenex and Kleenex is tissues.

Have never seen it, but have never looked, and would not let it be a stopper from buying it.

Yes, we know but someone new who's read that
he should only buy Mylar flips is going to be looking
    for a long time.

Please.... the term "mylar" is used extensitively, not only for coin storage but most document storage. Here's Wizards mylar flips:

    for it.
