stevex6 => Ancient Coin "2" outta 5 => MCQfQn Metellus (wow, that's a mouthful, eh?) Here is the second coin from my big coin-score (man, I'm really lovin' this one too!!) M. Caecilius Q.f. Q.n. Metellus (Restored issue) AR Denarius 82-80 B.C. Rome Mint Diameter: 18 mm Weight: 3.85 grams Obverse: Head of Apollo right, wearing taenia; mark of value below chin Reverse: Shield with elephant's head in central boss, surrounded by laurel wreath Reference: Macedonian. Crawford 369/1; Sydenham 719; Caecilia 30 Other: 1h, Good VF, toned, faint scratches under tone NOTE => where "Restored issue" means it is copying the design of an earlier coin type. For the record, here is a photo of the original coin design (both are great coins ... I only own the top example) 127 B.C. Rome Mint
Not only do you post nice coins stevex6, but you win the the CoinTalk award for "most rapidly changing avatar picture"! Frankly...I'm partial to the Johnny Quest avatars...that one you've got up there now scares me a lilttle...
Another high-quality piece in a high-quality collection. Bravo! The elephant head on your coin has a curiously modern, cartoonish look.
Now that just wrong, your saving the best for last, this is off the chart, WOW...Details, are awesome, i can't wait to see the next three... well done Steve well done...
That nasty ol' Bing is in a mood today, eh? Eng => this coin may actually be may favourite of the bunch ... they do not get better as they go on (well, I guess that's totally up to your guy's opinions to determine which is your favourite) ... but I merely started at one chronological-end and now I'm working my way forward-through-time => Ironically, I think the 5th coin is certainly gonna be anticlimactic (but I still think it's super cool) => hey dawg => "all" coins are cool!!!
