I went to a small coin show recently and picked up a type set frame. It was my first such display and after reading about everybodys type sets I thought I should assemble one. It is a 20th century set. I found it humorus when the guy was trying to sell it to me he said it would take some time to fill it, but over time I could complete the set. Well "over time" was about 1/2 hour after I got home!;) I could not wait to fill the frame. I could have put in better coins, but I like it how it is.

I've always like how these framed sets look. I just wish I could see one with all BU coins. That way it would really represent the true look of the "type". That's just my personal perference.

I would like to have one like yours all BU of course. The only thing is that if there was ever a break-in it surely would be taken. But I guess that's the risk you take when you get involved with collecting valuables.

That's a nice set. I wish I could custom make my own frame coin set but I don't know where to look for. :(

There's a couple of these frames on Ebay, but... they are filled already (which pretty much takes the enjoyment out of "filling your own type set" but... also a few Harris folders (not great for display like a frame, but less expensive than the Dansco 7070 album.

I'm not sure what these would be worth filled (with moderate quality coins).

I may switch more of the coins over to au or bu, but for now I will leave it on the wall as is.

I go along with you. I too have that same set and mostly the coins are in EF to AU. I like it the way it is because to me it now represents coins that have been used in the 20th Century. I framed mine and it to hangs on the wall. If it was all MS I think it would look to much like something put together by an expert as just a thing. I like mine the way it is. USED COINS.

    books

The same show where I bought the frame, they had a table set up with pile of old whitman folders they were giving away. Other than my kids it didn't look like they had many takers.

I also do like the look of the histoy in the coins as apposed to a new looking diplay, but some of the coins look so good in BU, mabey I'll have to get another frame. One for BU, and wone for historic looking coins.:thumb:
