That is a very nice example of an AE double derriere of Archelous II, also known as Archelous of the great wind, AKA Archelous the Farter. Known far and wide for his gastronimic gluttony and lactose intolerance, it was said this great leader could clear a tent faster than any one before or since.

He capitalized on his father's legacy of discomfort by taking it to a much higher level. Foreign leaders would shower his kingdom with gifts, brides, promises of military support, anything to keep Archelous from coming to visit their city and stinking up the place. He expanded his Kingdom on windy days. Any kingdom unfortunate enough to be downwind from his quickly agreed to whatever terms were proposed.

He was married to Phoebe the unfortunate, but it really was a misnomer since luckily, (for her), she was born without a sense of smell. Her offspring, unfortunately, were not, and she had two sons. The first was Henry the weepy eyed, the second Jonathan the Nose Holder. Unfortunately Henry could not long tolerate living in their home, and accidentally drowned himself holding his head under water to avoid the stench. Jonathan later inherited the kingdom after Archelous accidently asphyxiated himself by staying in an outhouse too long, and depriving himself of oxygen.

The picture of Archelous looks strange due to his condition. Have you ever inflated and deflated a balloon over and over? Do that to a man, and you will have a man looking just like Archelous looked, completely deflated.

The reverse of this piece is of utmost importance. It shows a wedge of cheese, a stack of broccoli, and a kettle of baked beans. Its the first pictorial depiction of weapons of mass destruction. The sight of such a coin, being issued by Archelous II, let everyone know far and wide the terrible, terrible wrath they would have to endure if they crossed this great King. It is said women, children, and weak men would faint at the very sight of this coin.

Yours is in wonderful condition. Unfortunately the mint was in the King's castle, and the putrid, toxic air usually caused these coins to corrode horribly even before they were released to the public. Yours must have been smuggled out in the clothes of a victim to the air or buried immediately in the ground after striking.

Mystery box if I win please. :)

This is the first contest I've entered because I've never had anything I felt that I could really contribute to but...
As soon as I saw it I thought of the Nemesis from Resident Evil. These are the coins that the Umbrella Corporation would have minted had they taken complete control of Raccoon City. Also this coin is going to haunt my dreams tonight. Thank you for that.
