I have had this coin for apx. 10 years and have always thought about having it graded. What would you grade it? It has all the lines on the sails on the reverse. Would you spend the money to have it certified and if yes by who? The coin has nice color unlike in the pics. Thanks
Great looking coin. Might even be Mint State, MS-64. Me, I wouldn't get it graded, but the majority here may think otherwise Ben
This one's kinda tough based on the pics. In one pic it appears that there are breaks in the luster on the sails, if there are I would say AU58. In another pic I am not so sure. If there are no breaks in the luster then I would say MS63.
I'd say AU58 as well...there are marks on Columbus' hair and other places that indicate it saw a tiny bit of use.They don't appear to be bag/contact marks.Otherwise it's beautiful and clean.
I would say au58 as well maybe higher. But thats a pretty big maybe. Lets not forget that some marks are made while at the mint. Those marks would be considered if you had it sent out to be graded and the grader was not rushing his job. But pictures are nothing like seeing it i person. I say if your asking if you should send it out to a TPG. Sure why not. If you do Please post it again after you get it back from them id love to see what its marked. Thanks for showing it if,,i have a few of them slabed ms64 pcgs. They look close to that one.But no marks like that one. Very nice looking coin!
