very nice error. that is quite a dramatic ink smear on a star note to boot. it's a shame of the condition and what ever is staining it.

The correct term for this is a solvent smear.

Well I am asking here, because I was made an offer on it, but it was through a larger company. I don't want to be taken advantage of this because I am an extreme newbie. Anyone want to place a value on this dollar?

The paper money board is much slower than the coin boards. Have patience and someone with knowledge about errors will post eventually. May take a day or two.

No problem there, I have been holding on to it for years, just because I thought it looked neat. I have always collected coins and dollars that caught my eye. I am just now trying to figure out what I have. So no rush needed.

Nice error note, especially because it's on a star note.
My only advise is to try and display your notes horizontally.
It's hard to determine value because of the condition. The note has seen some circulation and has some stains on the face. There is a similar ink/solvent smear note in the upcoming Lyn Knight Auction. The note is a series 1981A $50 G-A note in a PCGS 55PPQ holder. An error on $50's are much rarer than $1's. Thanks for the asvice, I wouldn't mind finding a $50 like that one.

A solvent and ink smear are two separate things. This being of the ink variety
