The amount of slabs in aquiring is increasing, I am now up to 12. My question is how do you store your slabs? I like the idea of the boxes with the slats that hold the coins in place. These however so come in batches of 20 so I'd have 8 slots left over that may take years to fill. I also saw the intercept shield box that has individual boxes within a main box, that really intrigues me. Anyone have any experience with these intercept duel box designs? Just looking for slab storage experiences.

I use, both, the NGC & PCGS plastic slab boxes, but since I have about 300 slabs, I also use the cardboard boxes with paperboard dividers in which NGC ships submissions to the customer. If you have a few coin dealers in your area, ask them if they have any of these boxes from previous submissions. Maybe they will give you a few. Chris
Chris, although it wouldn't have much effect on slabbed coins, If the boxes were stored in a safe or enclosed protection, they might create a problem due to their normal acidity levels. I use them to carry slabs to the bank or back, but wouldn't store the boxes amongst regular 2x2 or unenclosed coins. Jim

Many local dealers will give you a slab box for no charge. Use the box and don't worry about the empty slots; they have a way of filling themselves up.
I use NGC plastic boxes, around $14 on ebay last time I bought a few. Recently I purchased a fancier aluminum storage case for my special "Box of 20" collection, (although it holds 25 ). I like it a lot.
i believe ngc used to sell their boxes for 6.50 each, not sure if they still do my membership expired

The problem with those pages, Larry, is that the plastic strip across each slot tends to crack if you are continually shifting slabs around to make room for new ones or taking them out to image or just look at. Also, the weight of the slabs puts a lot of pressure on the holes for the 3-ring binder, and they tend to crack there as well. They are too expensive to fall apart like that. Chris
I don't believe NGC sells their boxes anymore. Since they tend to hold any of the major TPG slabs they tend to be the preferred box. I would expect the supply is rapidly drying up if it hasn't already.
Definitely buy a box. You might fill those extra slots faster than you think. Also, consider the Whitman box if you have slabs from different services. The Whitman box is designed to hold all 3 major services slab types: PCGS, NGC, and the newer ANACS holders. I find it convenient to be able to mix slabs that will still hold snugly in one box.
I agree Chris. Sometimes the top of the page cracks. I think the quality has gone up and down over the years. Seems like they came out about 15 years ago.
